Botsvana, Afrika kıtası üzerinde demokrasi alanında en gelişmiş ülke olarak kabul görmektedir. 2011 yılında açıklanan İnsani Gelişme Endeksi verilerinde, Botsvana Afrika kıtasının güneyinde bulunan ülkeler içerisinde en yüksek verilere ulaşmıştır.
